Cherry blossom in Tokyo - need I say more?! It’s that time of the year when the parks of the city become a sea of pink and people from all over the world flock there to capture this fragile and passing beauty of nature.

Konnichiha! Sakura in Japanese culture is a metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life - meaning the beauty and volatility of the cherry blossom is associated with mortality and graceful acceptance of destiny and karma.

However, Japan wouldn’t be Japan, if Sakura wouldn’t be marketed in every way possible. Here’s a taster of what’s on offer during Sakura season...

There were also quite a few street decorations marking this special time of year.
